Weekly Wednesday Envy: Ankle Boots

I made ankle boots my weekly Wednesday envy this week because I don't understand them! I have two pairs, one I've had for over a year, and I don't know how to wear them. I'm short, so they seem not to look right with skirts, but I'm not sure how to wear them with jeans. In case you're in the same boat, here's some inspiration to help you not give up! And after the jump I have more help!

Photo an Hour: My Birthday

My birthday was yesterday, and even though it was Friday and I had to work I thought it would be a good day to jump on the photo an hour band wagon.

Forever Homes and Crochet Pet Bed Pattern

I have an adopted bunny rabbit named Lillie. She came to live with me on February 19, 2009. She is an adorable, feisty, diva bunny, and I love her so.

A few weeks ago I crocheted Lillie a new bed out of upcycled bed sheets, great project if you have small animals (dogs and cats included). Plus, I have more information to share on adopting bunnies!

Weekly Wednesday Envy: Blogs that are better than mine

So why do I blog? Hm, good question. I secretly hope my blog will become an internet sensation and I'll get a million followers and I someone will ask me to write a book then I can quit my job and bake cupcakes for a living.

Huh...until then, here are four of my favorite blogs that keep me inspired. My evolving list of daily reads can be found here for even more inspiration.

Being Vegetarian in an Omnivore House

I committed to being vegetarian just this past summer. It was a pretty easy transition for me since I was never into red meat in the first place, and I elected to still eat dairy and eggs (but no fish or seafood, those folks are called pescetarian). Though I live with my husband-to-be who is not vegetarian.

So what to do? I have no problem cooking dinner for us both but I had to adapt to prepare meals for both a vegetarian diet and omnivore diet simultaneously! I thought it may be helpful to share my meal plan for one week, including some recipes.

Secret to Making Simple Brownies Look Super Fancy

I'm thinking my "secret to..." posts that I introduced here may not always come on Sundays in the future, but I promise I'll keep them coming regularly.

This week's secret is how to make brownies look super fancy and impressive. Usually brownies cut up in squares and plunked down on a plate are enough to make people excited, but with a few tricks you can make them look like a gourmet dessert! I also have an easy go-to brownie recipe for you!

Weekly Wednesday Envy: Travel Destinations

I haven't had the fortune to travel very much yet. I've been to Canada and Mexico but that's pretty much the extent of it for now. These are a few places that top my travel list.

Peanut Butter Stars for Pooches

I bake for everyone else, why not my puppy dog too? I have a retired racing greyhound named Odie. He's 5 years old now, and we adopted him from Pocono Greyhound Adoption a little over a year ago. To celebrate his birthday this past January and one year anniversary in his forever home, I made him homemade doggie treats with peanut butter and safflower oil. And here I have the recipe for you to make for your best friend as well!

Sunday Secret to Crocheting in the Round Using the Magic Circle

I figure I better put something helpful on this blog once in awhile. So I'm starting a new regular series called Sunday Secrets where share helpful tips and tricks to doing...well...something!

This week I have some step by step pictures of how to start crocheting in the round starting with the magic circle. It's a different way to start crocheting in the round, that won't leave you with the hole at the center of your work you get when you crochet into a chain.

Hm, I'm not in a very chatty mood tonight, I think I'll just share some pretty pictures. My birthday is coming up this month, and while I don't think I'll do much of anything I've been spying some pretty party dresses I envy.
